A recent piece posted on here has a bunch of bullshit reasons why anarchists shouldn’t vote. From not achieving the desired ends, to validating a system of oppression, the piece simply vomits out leftist talking points undigested. The only reasonable arguments presented against voting were that one would not want to come out of the goon cave to vote, and that anarchists would assassinate whoever was elected anyway.
But most of this leftist bullshit is problematic thinking. Anarchists are afraid of the power of voting, afraid of winning, because of their need to sacrifice themselves to be the white saviors of black and brown people, putting themselves at the top of a savior hierarchy. This sacrifice requires predictably losing by rejecting collective power, like voting and large mass actions that get people arrested and maybe smash a few windows of vacant buildings.
This fear of power is endemic to anarchism. It’s a desire to lose.
That’s why we say, don’t fear! Embrace anarchy and power!! Vote!!!
Why should you vote? How is this embracing anarchic power? Because you should vote for the candidate that is most likely to destroy the “US.”
For example, take Biden and Trump’s policy on the Palestinian genocide by Israel. Who will choose policies that are more likely to lead to world war 3, and thus a potential collapse of the “US”? (By anarchists instigating civil war, of course). This is a tough one. Both Trump and Genocide Joe support Israel, but Biden seems to want to get a short-term ceasefire to appease leftist Democrats, while Trump wants isolationism. Well it could go both ways: ceasefire demands leading to more Israeli belligerence and thus wider war, or isolationism triggering broader actions by emboldened opposition to the “West.”
What about climate change? Biden wants some “green” policies, like electric vehicles and regulations on carbon emissions from natural gas plants. Most of this transition will require expropriation of minerals and other resources from, for example, native lands in the “US”, or abroad, creating opportunities for resistance movements against this green transition. On the other hand, Trump wants more oil, more gas, more spills, more destruction. This might drive environmentalists off the edge, leading them down the terrorist road of enlightenment, or even start collapsing the ecosystems we have left, leading to mass migration and strife.
Again, it seems like a bit of a toss up who is worse for the “US.” However, as a devout anarchist you must use your judgment. Study the issues. Who could trigger a civil war? A world war? Nuclear war? Economic collapse? Embrace the power of voting and don’t be allergic.
The main problem with this approach is that, if you’re an anarchist, you’re probably a fucking fugitive living from squat to squat, from couch to couch, from forest to forest.
So yeah maybe you shouldn’t vote in that circumstance. Don’t tip off the US Marshals.
Fuck it. Fuck voting. Stay on the run! Run bitch run!!!
